NATASHA NDLOVU, BLOGGER + MODEL, UNITED KINGDOM

NATASHA’S STYLE: It’s constantly changing. Recently I cut my hair short, so I don’t dress as “girly” as before but I still keep it feminine. I don’t like to stick to one style because I love everything, and with my job as a model I like to experiment with brands and styles because I work with such a diverse range of designer or brands, so I take something from each one. I will, however, always incorporate my leather jackets and skinny jeans into my outfits from time to time.

INSPIRATION: Art, music and my travels inspire me. When I am somewhere new, I like to imagine myself in that environment and how I would interact and live in it. I live in London, but if I were to move to Tokyo tomorrow, I feel like I would be eating, dressing, and doing things differently from where I am now because of my surroundings.

HOW DO YOU SEE YOUR STYLE EVOLVING? I want to wear skirts and dresses more. My job as a model keeps me in leggings and skinny jeans most of the time, so I need to break away from that. I also want to invest in tailor made pieces and designer clothes from the likes of Valentino, Dior, etc.  A big influence on that happening of course will be money ! I will need to work hard and have a good income to afford such things.

WHAT MAKES YOU UNIQUE? It depends on what you mean by unique. I like to think of it more in terms of life experiences than something such as one’s  fashion sense or artistic abilities. Yes, I can draw, take photographs, but I also speak 5 languages, have lived on my own since I was 18, across the world from my family in several countries and run an online store, so to me such an experience is what makes me unique.

FEAR FACTOR: {I fear} not achieving my goals at the moment I want them to, but then again, as my mother said, that’s a voice in one’s head from society telling you that at 16, 18, 24, 30, etc you must have this and have done that in your life. Everything else compared to this, is just a phobia. I’m scared of snakes and I’m scared of flying but that’s not what I fear the most at the end of the day.

WHAT ROLE DOES SOCIAL MEDIA PLAY IN YOUR LIFE? I waste so much time on social media because I am addicted. Haha! Instagram is a blessing and curse mainly because I take about 5 variations of one photo to get the right angle then it’s on to what filter will make it look amazing. But the good thing about it is that I can share my experiences with my readers, inspire them and give them ideas. I also learn from other people as well through social media.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT WEARING THIS SPRING? Lots of color. My wardrobe needs color and different prints.  Also, I want to wear more white. I worry about staining white clothes, which is why I have never bought white pants or jeans, but I told myself I will go for it this season.

BARBORA ONDRACKOVA, 17, STUDENT, CZECH REPUBLIC

BARBORA’S STYLE: It is very hard to describe my style, because I feel like my style is a mixture of many styles. I would say that my style is simple and classy with rock elements. I wear basic pieces most of time and I think that accessories make an outfit complete. My favourite colour is black, I wear it a lot. I also like to combine different textures and materials - my favourite is leather!

INSPIRATION: I don’t have one source of inspiration. I get inspired by street style, runway models, stars (my fashion icons are Alexa Chung, Olivia Palermo and Kate Moss), sometimes even by other bloggers.

WHAT WORD WOULD YOU USE TO DESCRIBE YOUR EXPERIENCE IN 2013? Spectacular. In 2013 I have traveled so much, I was invited to a lot of fashion events, I met a lot of new people and I started to collaborate with many brands. I am really happy to live all that.

WHAT IS ONE THING YOU WANT TO CHANGE/EXPERIMENT WITH WHEN IT COMES TO YOUR PERSONAL STYLE? I think that sometime I should wear more colourful items, not only black. That would be the only thing to change, because I am happy with the way my style developed.

WHAT IS ONE QUESTION YOU WISH PEOPLE ASKED YOU MORE OFTEN? I think that people should ask more “How are you?” and really mean it. Most of people ask this question, because everyone does that and actually don’t see when something is wrong.

SHOP ETHICA x THE STYLE LINE the story of the Hart Jacket

The increasing need for sustainability in creative industries is growing everyday. Surely but slowly, eco-friendly/sustainable fashion and lifestyle brands are beginning to get the notoriety they deserve. We’ve even been fortunate enough to feature a bunch of them on The Style Line over the past few months. It has been a sincere pleasure to begin developing relationships within this community of do-gooders who value aesthetic but value the costs of ethics and humane labor, much more. Friends and November 2013 interviewees, Melissa and Carolina Cantor of Ethica serve as a prime example.

That’s why I was thrilled to partner with them on this project - I made it a goal was to tell the story of some of the pieces and brands available on the site. While I was personally very naturally drawn to the beautiful white paisley organic cotton sundress from Litke,I couldn’t help but jump at the gorgeous Mao Jacket from Hart.

Bold and rich with color and character it’s no surprise this jacket piqued my immediate interest. Melissa and Carolina explained the intricacy of the embroidery and how each jacket is ultimately one-of-a-kind. The designer, Hart Hagerty’s inclusion of these textiles are the first step in exploring the restoration of international awareness within different maker and artisan communities. As referenced from Hart’s website: Each collection will focus on a country’s "unique textile traditions" which will heighten the global standard in the production of garments and hopefully refocus what consumers value.

When you take a step back and think about the concept and process behind a garment like a Hart jacket, it’s mind-boggling. And this much holds true:

There really is a story stitched in every seam.

….Now isn’t that something?
